here is my situation: had my passport stamped in March. will get fired in April. my GC is EB2. I am primary. Is that safe if I go back to my country for a couple of months before I find new job?

thanks

I would advise you to wait for your card

I would advise you to wait for your card.If you come in to US with only passport stamp, there is secondary verification about your credentials and they ask a few questions in a separate room.
Since it is a employment based petition, you may have problems although you did not leave the company on your own.

I don\'t believe so

The second inspection is to verify whether your stamp is real. I think it\'s quite reasonable for INS to double check the stamp because it\'s so easy to forge. I don\'t think you will have any problem as you have already been granted LPR status. The stamp in your passport, as long as your passport is still valid, is the equivalent of the I-551 card.

That\'s a different issue.

The original poster\'s question is if he will have any trouble traveling with the I-551 stamp in his passport. The law says a valid stamp in a valid passport is the equivalent of the I-551 card. Should the original poster decide to stay abroad for over 180 days, he would be likely to face the same problem that you mentioned even if he had his I-551 card in hand. These are two different issues.
