Travel with H4 but worked with EAD

Here is the situation:

My wife had H4 but after she got her EAD, she worked for a couple of months. Does she need to have AP to come back to the US in the event of travel? Can she come in with H4?

We do not have our visas stamped but I know we can travel for less than 30 days to Mexico without having to go to the US embassy for our stamping.

Our I-94 has validity until 10/08.

She can come back with valid H4 stamp in the passport and actually this is the way to resume the H if you use EAD to work, you go outside and return back on H stamp.
