My wife is going to India on the 6th. She was holding H4 status. Currently we both are awaiting GC approval. Here are some of the details:

1) She has valid AP
2) She has EAD
3) FP given on 11/3/01

Questions:
1) Should she submit I-94 card while leaving USA?
2) How to use AP for travel?
3) What documents should she carry with her?

Carry AP mainly. Better to have I-485 and any other I-797s from INS

1. Yes, I -94 will be taken while going out.

2. When coming in , she has to fill a new I-94. They will stamp the I-94, AP and Passport while coing in. The stamp reads "paroled indefinitely.

(I-797s means any INS receipts and approval notices)

In US the airlines do takeout the I-94 while cheking in. By the way I am from Kakinada. If you can e

just came back on AP

Kakinada, I just got back from a trip on tuesday night. While leaving, the airline pulled out the I-94 from both my and my wife\'s passport. When we returned, they saw our AP, and sent us to another room. They stamped the 2 copies of AP, the new I-94 card and our passport with the arrival details, etc - all they asked us was who has petitioned for our GC, and the purpose of our visit, etc. They then returned 1 copy of the AP (To Alien) and retained the other copy (To Transport Line). Though they did not ask us for any other document, it may be a good idea to carry the EAD, copies of all receipts, and documents as such. I must tell you though that in light of the more recent events, the security has been more tightened, expecially when u are about to board the plane that will bring u to the port of entry, each traveller is subjected to a personal interview and random security check just outside the waiting lounge of your departure gate. If you need more clarification, feel free to e-mail me.

Different Entry Procedure with AP for wife

My wife recently came back from India. She was sent to a different room. Immigration officer stamped one of the AP copies with entry details and did not even look at the other copy

kakinada did you check with IIO for your FP?

You said, your AVM did not change. Mine did not either. I think we are still in the old FP system. Did you check with IIO to see if your FP moved into system#2? When I called, the IIO found it with my A# not WAC#.
