Travel while H1 in Progress

Hi

I am on L1 visa in US and applying for h1. My question is can I travel back to India while my H1 is still pending(not approved yet) and return on L1.

Does this in anyway result in cancellation of my H1 or increase the chances.

I understand that travel is not a safe thing to do while h1 is pending but in my case travel is must.

Any advice is greatly appreciated

----------------------- If you depart US after filing Change of status then Change of status is abandoned.
Does this in anyway result in cancellation of my H1 or increase the chances.

I understand that travel is not a safe thing to do while h1 is pending but in my case travel is must.
----------------File COS from L1 to H1 while you come back to US after your trip. go out then enter on L1 then let employer file COS from L1 to H1.
Any advice is greatly appreciated
