Hi,
I am planning to travel India thru Frankfurt, Germany and Dubhai to India.

Return thru Dubhai and London, UK to US.

I am changing flights in the above places?

At present I am in H-1. My AOS pending. My visa expired in the passport. so I am planning to travel using Advance Parole (AP).

Do I require transit visa in this case to chang the flights in Frankfurt, Germany and while return London,UK?

Please advise..
Anybody has recent experience on this..

Thanks
-Anamica

Anamica,

You can see my experience in the forum in detail "Travelling through Germany". Anyhow, here is the answer for you question.

If you have expired visa in the passport, you NEED to take Transit Visa to Travel through Germany (even if you have AP).

For travel through UK either way, you DON'T NEED transit visa for Indian Nationals if you have connecting flight in London within 24 hours. For onward jouney to India through UK from US, you don't need any document except your Indian passport. For your jouney from India to US through UK you need to show AP.

I don't know about Dhubai.

I hope this helps you.

I know a person who has travelled thru germany just with AP and no valid visa. It all depends on how far U are ready to stand up for your rights. But be preapred to take the next available flight...

CALLED GERMAN CONSULATE REGARDING TRANSIT VISA...

I CALLED GERMAN CONSULATE IN NY AND BOSTON. They said TRANSIT VISA NOT NEED if you have valid AP.

I hope this info helps for other people who are travelling using AP...

I recently travelled to india through frankfurt with AP, expired visa stamp in passport & without transit visa.
While going they didn't even see our passports before boarding the flight to mumbai but while coming to US they checked my passport , ticket & scanned expired visa stamp but didn't ask any questions. I didn't show them my AP as they never asked for it.

After reaching US I was taken for secondary inspection at newark. They took my passport, AP & asked me to wait. Within 5 mins they called me again, gave back stamped AP & passport with with new I-94. No questions asked.

Hope this helps.

samy70, Thanks for posting your experience. Definitely it will set some minds at rest. It will be helpful if U can post what was the POE of departure, what airlines did U use?

I traveled from Newark, NJ to mumbai via frankfurt by lufthansa. The POE was newark, NJ.
I forgot to mention one thing I had to show my AP in mumbai while checking in my bags & again at the immigration counter before boarding the flight to frankfurt.
I only had two copies of AP both with photos but didn't have a third copy, which is for the airline. I asked my lawyer & they told me that INS has stopped issuing it . Luckily my airline lufthansa never asked for it.
This is just my experience posted for people who want to travel on AP with expired visa stamp via frankfurt. Only one thing is sure you don't need transit visa all other things are highly dependant on the person or his mood at the time you show him your documents. You may also have diff experience if traveling by some other airline.

Bon Voyage
