Travel to US while CP pending at NVC

I applied for my mom's GC through CP. The Affidavit of Support was done and now I have even applied for the immigrant visa (DS-260) at the NVC. I just got a notification from them saying that since the volume of applications is large, the visa application will take at least 60 days to process.

She already has a multiple entry tourist visa which was issued long before we applied for the GC. She has been to the US multiple times and never overstayed.

1. Is there any way by which she can come to the US for a short stay (45 days) while her Immigrant visa is pending at the NVC?

2. Has anyone ever tried coming into the US on a visitor visa under similar circumstances? How did it go ? WOuld it help if I (US Citizen) travel with her on that trip and appear together at the office at the port of entry?

Thank you.

You being with her at the POE would make it worse. If you're not with her, they might not do enough checking in the system to realize that she is the parent of a US citizen and has an immigrant petition.

Thx.

I did call up NVC, USCIS, CBP and US Consulate Visa services in india. They gave varying accounts of whats possible; but in the end we decided not to have a trip on tht tourist visa now. Hopefully the greencard should come through in another couple months.

NVC - said that as far as they know, there is no restriction. But told me to check with USCIS and Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
USCIS - told me to call CBP
CBP - called twice. First person said that it is not allowed. The second person said it is allowed; but bring documents to show india connections
US Consulate Visa services in india - They said it is fine.
