Hi,

First of all I aplologize for posting this query in this forum. But I was confused as to where to put this query. :o

My employer is processing my green card and its in the RIR stage. My questions are:

1. How much time does it take for the RIR stage to clear? My employer is too slow to respond. SO I want to know that he is not wasting time.

2. I am planning to travel to India next year (2005) - will It cause any issues? Do I need to inform my employer?

Thanks in advance for your replies

:)

It varies extensively place to place. Checkout the time-line from Rajiv Khanna's website for your local labor dept. There is nothing to "respond" for RIR. However, if the application is pending for long time (say 1 years or 2 years) sometimes labor dept sends quiry to attorney/employer to make sure that position is still open. Otherwise, it's just sit and wait.

There is no issue to travel as long as you have a valid visa to enter.

Thanks for the replies, mate, makes me feel better. I think my employer has not filed my RIR yet (I have started the process 2 months ago) and I think he is doing background paperwork such as 750A and B forms etc. Its just that he is responding slowly here (I dont know how much time left before the RIR is filed).

As far as Visa is concerned, yes I have a valid work visa. I was just curious whether the INS watches your travel since the first stage (as my RIR will be filed soon), or do I have to respond to any calls/interviews from the INS. My absence should not tiugger a red signal.

Regards,
Kart
