Travel to India on OPT (i have paystuff)

Hi,

I am on OPT expiring on 14th July,09. I am working for a company in FL. Can i go to india for 3 weeks in Dec-Jan? I have company letter allowing me to go to india + required pay checks to proove my employement. I have all docs.

Is it ok to go India while on OPT?

Oh yeah.. That makes sense...

But Let say I have no problem with that, can I go to india??? Cuz half of my friends say, "No. Its risky.".. Half of them says, "With pay check n company later, U can go.. No worries"
 
With your documents I do not know why you might have a problem. You appear to be going during a holiday time which makes a lot of sense since business is slow.

You need to remember though that a visa simply allows you to apply for entrance at the border; the IO makes the decision whether or not to admit you based on his judgement at the time.
 
I am kindaa worried Beacuse since past 2 years in school, I always heard that "travel on OPT is risky".. The reason being it is written on OPT card that, "Card is Not valid for re-entry in USA".. And because of that so many of my frnds dint go India on OPT...

Another question: Hey, By d way, How do they know about my 90 days of unemployement are over? I mean how do they know how many days i have been unemployed till date? Through my SSN? If yes, then do u think they check for all the students in USA...

You have to report your employer's name and dates of employment to your school. The school keeps a record in SEVIS.
