Hi,
Our green card is approved on 10/08/2002.We stamped in our passports at detroit INS.We are planning to go india next week.Is there is any problem if we travel without plastic Green card. What are the documents should we carry other than stamped passport. Please advice. Thanks

The I-551 temporary GC stamp is just as good as the Plastic itself. No further documents required.

However, just make sure that you have some documents to show your Immigrant Status at all foreign airports. Sometimes those folks get suspicious looking at a simple "easy-to-forge" stamp. Carry copies of your I-485 Approval Notice, AP and EAD (if you have). Better be safe than sorry.

Good luck!

US Permanent Residents (GC Holder) and US Citizens DO NOT have to fill out I-94. Just the customs declaration.

thanks, Upstate_NY

wish the INS website said that clearly. I'll email my suggestion to them, but they may take 365 to 540 days to implement the change ;) :) :D

RAMU

They might even issue RFE for your suggestion or even notice of intent to deny, or worst suggestion might be transferred to local INS office!!! .)
