Current Status: Notice mailed welcoming the new permanent resident.

On December 20, 2006, we mailed you a notice that we had registered
this customer's new permanent resident status. Please follow any

My first thought after reading this was visiting my parents in my homeland. My question is whether i will be allowed to visit my homeland with my new GC. I submited my I485 after I was granted asylum status back in 2004. Will my previous asylum status prevent me from visiting my home?
Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
muslikcat.

But please, help me to figure my question.

I think you can travel to your COP with your GC and a valid NP or a RP without any problem.

Congratulations and godd luck

If you travel to COP with RP then you need your COP's visa... If your COP's consular or Customs officer need to know your nationality, how can you tackle on that ? Show them your GC which indicates your COP nationality and AS category ?

In my case I don't have any problem if I want to travel to my COP with GC and NP, but I think it depend of the circustamces in each country.

You just got your asylum-based green card now and you want to visit your country which persecuted you in the first place?

Interesting.

What is the matter if you got the GC after you got your asylum and if your country conditions had changed ?
Besides remember just one thing, when you get your GC "you are not asylee anymore" or in other word "you are no longer asylee" now you are Legal Permanent Resident and all of you share the same rights. Then why are you worry about to travel to COP? Please don't spread more scare were there is not any to fear.

Hello folks

I want to share you my daughter was in our COP a couple weeks and came back on dic 24. She used her NP and her GC and the IO didn't ask her any question, just sweeped the GC and stamped the date in her NP and said her "Welcome back to the USA".

I think this is realy very interesting,

You kids are playing with FIRE!!!
Only because your status has changed from asylee to Permanent Resident , dont don't make you untouchable ... you're not a US National YET!!! so lets say you get arrested in your home country US Consulate cant protect you or try to get you out............ your NATIONALITY is your COP ;-) Believe me if Homeland Security wants to investigate you , they can do so cause on most cases US Gov helps your COP with $$$ , FOOD , etc Unless you from North Korea or Cuba ( and few others ) where US has no relations , however i would not go back there even if i was a US Citizen
To some people this is really funny as in visiting COP even with GreenCard .. it only makes u think how easy it would be in court for a prosecutor to prove you phony .. or even Boarder Patrol Agents for that matter as they act judge and jury when you get back
Change in my COP ... this is funny too ..
Also the process right now is 5 years for some folks to get their green cards .. soon this will change lets say to become US Citizens in some places takes 3 1/2 months !!! what are gona say then after you become a PR ... well now its safe for me to go back :p i am not a asylee no more i got GREEN CARD
This is not about arguing with other forum members but try to use your common sense ( if you have one)
Peace and good luck !

Going back to COP does not make you a "phony"..

Nobody here has the authority to question the veracity of an asylum application..

Get arrested in your COP ??

I don't think going back to COP to get engaged in shady activities that could get you arrested, and then hope that the US goverment is gonna get you out of trouble for being a PR would be a good idea......

Being a US Permanent Resident is an enormous priviledge, but it is certainly not a license to kill..

Once again, it's common sense.

that has helped clear the million dollar question. Soon they will add citizenship earned from asylum. these people are nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
