Travel to Canada

Hello Everyone,

I am currently on H1-B visa working for a company in california. I applied for family-based greencard about a month back. I have biometrics done (finger prints) done.

We were thinking to travel to Canada in coming weeks.

Can I do that provided my greencard is still not approved..? Would it anyway affect my greencard application..? Under what visa category would i enter back..?

Urgent response will be highly appreciated as we have to make travel plans asap.

You can freely travel while on AOS if you hold a valid H1B.
I did it myself and no problem at all.
You will re-enter under your H1B status.
Make sure you don't need a visa to enter Canada though...

I second that. I travelled to Canada on H1B after my bio and before the interview and had no problems whatsoever. During the interview, when the officer heard I had gone to Canada while my AOS was pending, he said something like "oh, we might have a little problem here," but then he realized I was on H1B and said "oh, never mind." (if I recall correctly)
