Hello
My F1 expires May 25 2005. I will have to go to Canada for a conference from May 23 to May 29 2005. If I have a valis passport and an authorized I-20, will I have any problems at the port of entry? Please advise.
Thanks

you can go to Canada for upto 30 days and come back without the visa. You have to have a signature on your I-20 and don't give away your I-94 at the border.

Thanks for the reply.
I believe the signature you are referring to in the I-20 is by an authorized personnel in my University?
Please confirm,
Thanks.

Do they still have the Automatic revalidation process? I think they have cancelled that.

There are mix messsages about this, please make sure about that before you make any trip arrangement. And do let us know about the results or any update.

Hi LucyMO

Hi LucyMO,

As you said to retain the I-94. Please clarify which I-94 to retain, the expired or new I-94 attached to H1 Approval Notice.

Thanks

You need Canadian visa

You can go and return with expired F1 and valid I-20/I-94, but you still need a Canadian visa.

Check with Canadian immigration to see whether your country citizens need visa to go to Canada.

I can't help you with the change of status issue. You didn't mention it in the first post, and I don't know much about the rules for approved change of status to H1B.
