Travel - Self H1 & spouse EAD - Do we need AP?

I am currently working on H1 and my spouse has used EAD. We would like to travel out of the country now. Do we need AP? I would like to maintain my H1.

If H4 stamping is valid spouse can re-enter on H4.

1. spouse used EAD (though has valid H4 stamp till June'06)
2. Travel in May'06
3. Spouse come back with new H4 stamp
4. Spouse can continue to work on EAD

In the above steps, step3 is a MUST if she travels without AP (even if she has H4 stamp valid till June'06) - is that right?
And after step4, if she has to travel agian, AP is absolutely needed even if she has valid H4 stamp (redone during May'06). Is my understanding correct?

I think she can enter US without getting new stamp, as long as his H1 (status) and her H4 (stamp) is valid.

She can't enter on H4 w/o AP as H4 status is not maintained.
