Travel Permit Green Card and Taxes

I have been a Green Card holder for a couple of years and am currently in US living.

I have had a job offer in the UK for 2 years and will be applying for my travel permit and will return within the 2 years.

I need some advice around taxes.

I have been in the US for less than 3 months this year and this is so far the first time I have used my Green Card properly. I have not worked in US over the last 3 months.

I am aware that there is a Global Earnings Policy here and want to know a few things.

1. Which form and when do I need to use to fill out my tax return.
2. Will I have to pay taxes on my UK earnings bearing in mind I will be paying in UK (I will be earning over $90K).

Should I see a CPA and is there a recommended one in New York. Thanks so much.

As a GC holder, you should always file your US tax return as resident ( forms 1040, 1040EZ and others, but never 1040NR ).

I am not too sure what you mean by :
this is so far the first time I have used my Green Card properly

You would have to declare your worldwide income. There are forms for that on the IRS website.
However, there are some arranbgements between some countries : you may not have to pay US taxes if you paid UK taxes, but you would still have to declare it.

Same boat

I am in the same boat. I have an offer in Dubai. You will need to file form I131. This will protect u for 2 years. You also need to maintain some ties to the US (for example, owning property, bank accounts etc and off course you must file taxes).

US allows you to earn up to US$80K a year totally tax free. You only pay taxes for the amount more than $80K. In your case you will pay taxes on the $10K plus u will be earning.

If you are representing an American company, then your case might be different.

If you need to talk to a very experience person, msg me and I can give you the contact information for this well known attorney. I would definately talk to someone experienced before doing anything like this.
