Travel outside US after packet 3 filing

Hi,

I am pretty sure my information is correct but wanted to get it validated. Can you travel outside the US, specifically to the CP interview country (in my case, India) after one has filed packet 3 and/or packet 4?

I would only travel in case of an emergency and then return to the US on H1. Then when the interview call comes again, I would travel again for the CP/GC interview. I have heard this nasty rumor that if I leave the US while I have my packet 3 and/or packet 4 application pending, I automatically abandon that application. Is this true?

Thanks.

Leaving the country

I travelled outside the country after filing packet 3. There are no issues doing that. When entering the country, the officer at the port of entry got confused and thought that I had my green card. I went to the secondary inspection and everything got cleared up

travelling outside US after pkt 3

You mentioned that the first POE officer got confused. Could you tell me what all paperwork (or copies of it) I should carry with me?

I plan to carry all the docs as if I were to enter on my valid H1 visa, meaning my PP, a valid visa stamp in PP, approved I-797 and a letter from employer. As a precaution, also copies of paystubs. But do I need to carry any paperwork indicating I have applied for GC/pkt 3?

Thanks.

Hi
I just got the packet 3 from the INS, and I am planning to send my packet 3 right now. But I will be going to India end of November to get married.
* I will be going to India again for my CP interview. is this ok? or shld i wait till I come back after wedding to send my packet 3.
* Can I send in my wife's application as my dependant after I send my packet 3 (ie. after I get married)?? Or shld i wait and file both mine and my wifes application together.?

thanks in advance.
