Travel out of US while H1b Application in process

Hii,
I graduated (Masters) recently and joined a company who as filed for my H1b with start date of 1st October. I have a valid EAD permit till Jan 2007. I need to travel to India. Can I do so when:
1) can I travel on a valid EAD and come back before Sept/Oct?
1) my H1b has been submitted and approval is pending ?
2) what will happen if I am in India and my h1b gets approved ?

please clarify as I may need to go to India becuase of an emegency.

1) Not sure , but I think you need endorsement.
2) if you left the uS before H1 approval, you need to get H1 stamp before you start working on Oct 1.
3) Nothing happens, but you need to get H1 stamp before you work.
 
1) It is definitely not advisable to travel while the H1 application is in process
2) You can travel once your H1 is approved. You need to carry all the possible documents which show that your H1 is approved

I have a question along similar lines.
Can you travel to Hawaii while H1 application is in process? Hawaii is a part of US, however, it is an island. Therefore does the rule change?
