Travel on EAD while H1-B under processing?

Hi,

I am currently working using my valid OPT/EAD status. I have begun my H1-B processing recently. My EAD is valid until June 2005. Can I travel to India before I receive my H1-B in hand? Will I be able to re-enter the country using my valid EAD card? Or will I have to wait in India to get my H1-B visa?

Thanks.

EAD stands for Employment Authorization Document and as far as I know it clearly states on the back of the card that it is not valid for re-entry to the US.
In order to enter the US you need a valid visa stamp in your passport.

As Bosko mentions, EAD has nothing to do with travel.

You should be having a valid I-20 and a F1 stamp in the passport for entry.
