Travel immediately after oath ceremony

Hi,

I have to travel to India immediately after my oath ceremony. On the GOI website it says that there is a grace period of 3 months for travel on an Indian passport. My questions are:

1. Can I travel from US to India with Indian passport and naturalization cert.?
2. Once in India, I am planning to apply for a US passport from the consulate and surrender my Indian passport.
3. The minute I get my US passport, I will be out of status therefore will go to the FRRO and a) surrender my Indian passport b) apply for an Entry/X visa c) Apply for OCI.

Has anyone on this forum done so?

Like Susieq said.

You have to use an American passport in/out of the US. No way around that. Get your ducks in order and figure out a plan from their.

Seems to me you have two options:
- apply for express passport after oath ceremony and travel a few days later
- delay oath ceremony till after your trip

Traveling on a US passport requires obtaining an Indian visa, getting an Indian visa requires paperwork renouncing Indian citizenship. Could take more than a few days.
