Travel before receiving AP in the mail

I applied to AP together with an application for a green card based on marriage to an american citizen. I was notified that the petition was approved and that they mailed the approval on Apr 10th. I want to attend my brother's wedding on Apr. 25th abroad. As soon as I saw that the petition was approved and that it was mailed, I bought tickets. However as of today I have not received in the mail the AP. My questions are:

- What's inside the envelope USCIS sends?
- Would it be possible for me to leave the US without the douments and have them mailed abroad before I return?

Thank you for your help

-the permit
-It is risky for example I rec'd mine after 2.5 months after get lost. I do not need it because my GC approved 4 days after AP and the card arrived after another 4 days. What are you going to do if the same thing happen. Consider also mailing time overseas ......etc

So the only problem would be mailing times and receiving it abroad before re-entering. Worst case scenario I could wait abroad a few weeks until I get the papers. Am I right?

I do not think this is the worst case scenario. I think the worst case scenario, as happened to me and others in many applications, that this is a computer system error and nothing approved. Other, the AP get lost in overseas or even here in US mailing and as you may know, no replacement for lost AP and you have to apply while in US from scratch. My advice is to have the AP in your hand before you get in the plane. If I were in the same situation, I prefer to loose few or many dollars to return the ticket and not to attend my brother's wedding is safer for me. Nice call and gift card are not bad options, still my personal opinion.
