I have my citizenship interview on June 29th 2006.

I had to reschedule my vacation in order to make it to the interview, how soon i could travel after the interview ?

Newark,NJ administers oath on the same day, has anyone had cases otherwise ?

Thanks

Assuming you don't have the oath the same day and you travel by plane, you can drive to the airport right after the interview.

passport?

just wondering...doesnt SCitizen need to get a US passport first before travelling outside the country?

As far as I know, you aren't a citizen until you take the oath. So, the green card holder rules will still apply to you.

I applied for my passport the next day after the oath & selected the expedited service. I got it exactly the following week from the Philadelphia Passport Agency. It will cost you extra $60 plus the express mail fee (around $29). It's worth it if you have to travel asap after your oath.

Thanks alleyoop24.

I m planning to travel 3rd of week of July. If everything goes well with my interview on 29th June. I guess i should be fine.

same here

had same experience as alleyoop. went to public library to file application, opted for expedited processing and got it in the mail exactly a week later (officially they tell you 2 weeks).
