Travel after applying for the EAD

Hi all,

I am on my J2 visa and planning to apply for my EAD and then travel to India. Will there be any issue in it? Will I need to be present to collect it? Typically how long will they issue the EAD for? Will it be till the end of the date on the IAP-66? Would appreciate any help on this.

EAD is generally for a year

and you need not be in US to receive it. It comes in mail.

If I have my J2 visa till June 2003 and I apply for my EAD, will it be valid till June 2003 or will it be valid only till Dec 2002 (Somebody told me it is processed only till year end and you need to reapply for extension!!!)
