I'm going to Bahamas this weekend, beside the RTD what other INS document should I take with me in order to wave problems in my way back? I'm returning to a small airport in Florida.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm back.

I came back from Bahamas with my RTD and didn't have any type of problem. The IO was very nice and helpful, he didn't have the stamp (small airport) that had to be placed in the RTD so he decided to write the text and put a stamp with the date, the same thing with I-94 (both parts).
No problem at all.

Did you have to surrender the I-94 card issued by INS? and if you did what the was the stamp that was issued to you in the new
I-94 card ?

no

No, the didn't ask for the old I-94, I have it with me, and the new one says some thing like this,

Admiited as a returning asylee under the immigration and nationality act ( )( ) If you plan to leave the United States , you need permission to come back. Authorized to work.

The IIO did the right thing. We are supposed to get such I-94 when coming back.
Unfortunately, not all the IIO's know the right procedure, and we have heard of different experiences in this forum.

cookiemonster,

Do you need a VISA to Bahamas?

Did your refugee travel document valid for at least 6 months while you travel?

No VISA

cchong,

I didn't need a Visa to go to Bahamas, and the RTD was good for about 2 more months, and also my wife and kids RTDs were good for less than 6 months.

cookiemonster,

Thanks for the info. Having to know that Visa is not required to travel to Bahamas, and the limitation on the validity period of the travel document is not an issue, I feel must better now.

I didn't need a visa, I don't know you, it depends on your country of origin, please verify with the Bahamian Consulate, or the consulate's website.

Cookieconster,

What do you means? I thought all US Refugee Travel Document is the same.

Why it has anything to do with my country of origin? I thought ayslees can not travel with it national passport.

Please clarify.

Yo Alanpero,

This is Jack. MY I-485 was approved back in March 2003 and I got my I-94 stamped in April. Just letting you know.

Thanks

Jack

There are some countries that don't require visa if you travel with RTD no matter where you come from, others like Bahamas, require visa depending on your country of origin even if you travel with RTD, BTW your country of origin is stated in your RTD.

Make sure about it, otherwise you can have an unforgettable trip to Bahamas. Is not a big deal to get a Bahamian Visa, but to be honest if I needed a visa to go there, I wouldn't go.
