Travel abroad after seeing online AP approval?

Hi,

I am waiting for my AP approval with RD of 10/22 at NSC. Can I leave US once I see the online approval and ask someone to post/carry the AP document to my home town so that I can come back using it? This way I will not be violating the rule of leaving the country before AP approval.

I am considering this option because it will take a very long time before the document is received by the lawyer and he posts to us. I badly want to travel within 10 days. Please help. Thank you.

I cannot say the online status is always correct so it's better to lay your hand on the AP approval paper before leaving this country.

For some reason AP is lost in mail, duplicates are not issued. One has to re-apply for AP. Also remember AP cannot be applied from abroad, your presence in US is a must. Good luck

Hello wisefish & peace_of_mind,

Thanks for your responses.

peace_of_mind,

I have already applied for AP. Please see my post. There is nothing as applying AP while I am abroad.

wisefish,

The online message may not be reliable in the sense that it will not be updated promptly. Does it also mean that it may show AP approval even when it has actually not been approved?

I would appreciate if anyone can clarify on this matter.
Thanks.

peace_of_mind is correct. If your AP is lost in mail (you know, just misplaced - in the old fashioned way - by USPS or somebody else that is part of the mail delivery process), they will not issue a duplicate. They will ask you to reapply and if you are out of the country by then, you would not be eligible to apply for AP.

It is not a good idea to get all worked up without reading the posts carefully! All the best.:)
