Trapped with employer for five years, how much longer

It\'s great to hear about you guys getting
approval. I hope mine will come soon (RD 06/20).

I\'ve been trapped with this same dam employer
for over five years. They know they have me and
don\'t give me any pay rises and feed me rubbish
work. I\'ve spent five years coding in Turbo Pascal
under DOS. I complained once and they I got a
project in SmallTalk on an Amiga, so I\'m grateful
for being able to learn Turbo Pascal 5.1

I don\'t think a GC will help me even when I get it.
Who the hell wants someone who can program in an
obselete language on an obselete platform.

I\'m also worried my wife may leave me for a Java
programmer. The way they talk about templates and
dynamic binding, what the hell is that about.

Thats what most H1Bs are facing !!!

Sorry to hear your story. Hope you would soon get your GC and then enjoy your freedom to the fullest extent.

why do you think this

forum is so popular ? Thats exactly the reason .
I have a co-worker who spent his own money to extend h1 ,
485 processing , relocate to another project . This after working
for a company A on one project for nearly 3 years .
 
Yeah, I know I signed a stupid contract

I get paid a stipend and board and meals.
So I am well fed and housed but don\'t have
much money. I do get to eat at the Udapi palace
in Fremont every second night for me. Look out
for me, I\'m the one with the family sized Dosa.

I did a search for Turbo Pascal on Monster.com
and got no hits. I\'m depressed.

Hi Charlie,

There are many in the same boat. But don\'t feel bad. After all there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel and you will enjoy afterwards in GC approval.

Just out of curiosity, I \'ve seen a 4d player with the same name on IGS
 
I\'m not sure about light at the end,...:) in this current market...

I don\'t find job with superb embedded system background..with multiple good projects. Programming MMU, enhancing scheduler for RTOS, ask for any kind of interrupt or exception handler writing experience I have it. If I get one interview call I will make it.

Instead complaining, why not spend time on learning new skills?
I have been trapped in the same company for nearly 6 yrs. Now my GC is still pending, even after the interview. But I believe I will finally get through.
