Hi All:
Myself and my wife hold a AP travel documents through our GC application in US.
We both have our EAD's ( work authorization document) as well.

Wanted to know if we would require a transit visa if we have a stop over at Germany/France during our visit to India.
If required how long does it take to get one.
Any phone numbers in US which we can call to enquire would be great as well.

Any inputs in this regard is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Yes you need a transit visa, you can just working apply for the transit in the consulates, and pick it up in few days say 2 to 5 days depending on the day you are travelling

Hi Thanks for the reply...
Not sure why we need a transit visa if we are just having a stop over at Germany/France on our way to India.
We are not planning to go out-side the airport and visit any places.

Did you have the same status as I have described above and were you told you need a transit visa ?
Do you have any websites which indicate the same
Any inputs ?

Thanks in advance

Transit visas are for people transiting through the country. A transit visa does not allow you to leave the airport. If you are changing planes, then most likely you will require a transit visa.

Check with the consulate for time.

Transit Visas for Frankfurt and Paris

Been thru Frankfurt and CDG (Paris) several times without seeing anybody need transit visas.. (My own experince is irrelevant here because I don't need tourist visas to these countries anyway)..If all you are doing is changing planes, you don't even leave the international area...Most european airports are that way.

The problem only occurs in airports like Pearson Canada, where the passengers actually have to enter Canada to change flights... Two ways to be absolutely sure... Call the airline and the consulate of the country in question.
