I am travelling to India in January in Lufthansa thru Frankfurt on advance parole. My visa has already expired. Should I get a transit visa ?? If I get a transit visa here, will it be valid for my return journey also.
My wife's visa has not expired. Should she also get a transit visa ??
Thanx in advance.

Yes, if you don't have visa stamping at passport. Then you have to take Transit visa.

I called german consulate and Air India Chicago office and they insisted to take.

It is very simple process. I got mine within 4 days.

Please let me know if you need more details,

Thanks

Question abt Transit Visa

Hi VenkatSri,

For how long will they give the transit Visa at the German Consulate? If after taking the transit Visa, I need to reschedule my trip, does that mean that I have to take the transit Visa again?

Thanks

do we really need transit visa?

Hi friends,

I am also planning to travel india at the end of january using advance parole. I do not have H-1 stamp at all in my passport. I had F-1 stamp and is expired long time back.

I searched couple of consulate web-site and I found followings.

For Netherland,
If you have a valid re-entry permit then you do not need transit visa.

For Germany and Britain,
If you have a valid USA visa, then you do not need transit visa. Website does not mention any specific about advance parole. Guys it is really big confusion.

If somebody has recent experience travel on AP, please let us know whether transit visa is required or not.

Thanks is advance.

Air India chicago office phone

Hi VenkatSri,

Can you please write Air india chicago office. I want to travel through Air India and it stops in London. So really want to make sure with them whether I need transit visa or not.

If they reply me yes, then I may travel through other airline.

Thanks in advance.

From some of the postings here I understood that if you have only AP and visa validity on the passport is expired, then you need a transit visit.
else
If you have the AP and also the visa validity on the passport is valid, then you dont need a transit visa.
else
if you have valid visa validity on the passport and no AP, then also you dont need a transit visa.

correct me if I stated something wrong.
these are my understandings from various postings here

transit visa not needed

My friend who travelled end of November 2003 on advance parole and in Lufthansa thru Frankfurt and whose visa has expired long time back did not take transit visa. He just showed a copy of advance parole and he did not face any problem. He travelled at least 3 times in the recent past and he faced no problems, so i guess we don't need transit visa if our visa has expired, but we have advace parole.

transit visa required if travel via london

I checked in consulate websites of couple of country. I think germany and france are still liberal. Netherland does not require transit visa.

But UK is very strict I guess. If your visa expired on the passport, you have to have transit visa if travel via london.

I am planning to travel in airindia via london. If any of you guys have applied for transit visa to UK consulate office, please post some information about how long it takes if applying by mail etc.

Thanks

Travel Experience via Frankfurt with AP

I came from India three weeks back by Emirates via Frankfurt. You do not need transit visa if you travel via Frankfurt. I'm on Advance parole. Only for London Transit visa is must.

Anyone else has any experiences of travelling through frankfurt with AP and expired visa ?? Please post ur experiences.
