I am travelling to India in April by Air-India from Newark Newjersey via Paris(not changing the plane) to Bangalore. Can someone please tell me whether I need to take transit visa or not, I know if you fly via frankfurt or london you need to take the visa.

Some more information about DATV (Transit Visa) posted by 4lowfare.com

http://www.4lowfare.com/html/datv.html

Extract from above page:
" DATV rules may be applicable for other countries and you will need to verify with the respective consulate for rules applicable to you.

NOTE: In addition to above, if you are a Indian National traveling from USA to India you DO NOT need DATV if your transit point is Paris or Frankfurt ONLY when flying Air India. However, certain check-in staff of certain US domestic airlines may not be aware of this waiver for Air India passengers and may deny boarding to you. "

I think if you fly by Air-India you do not need to get down at Paris. So you do not need a transit visa.

What is visa status. If you are travelling on AP with an expired visa you need a transit visa. Otherwise no transit visa is needed.
