Dear folks,
Please help me here... I am traveling from US to India, through Hong Kong and Singapore route (Cathay Pacific airlines). I recently got my 551 stamped on my Passport and didn't receive my plastic card yet. My question is "Do I need any transit visa in Hong Kong or Singapore"? I have a stop of 1 Hr 15 Min in Hong Kong and 9 Hr 15 Min in Singapore. I do not intend to go outside of the airport. Does Hong Kong or Singapore recognize 551 stamp? Can someone who recently traveled this route share his/her experiences (regarding transit visa requirements)? Would you please reply soon, as I am traveling on June 17th.
Thank you!

check with the respective consulates on internet. leaving our neighbours north and south (canada and mexico) and probably the caribbean countries most countries do not recognize the passport stamp as sufficient proof of green card for transit visa waiver purposes. Therefore if you are a citizen of india and need a transit visa (for lack of valid us visa) you need to apply for a transit visa.

I have had two friends who were going to india via london and france retuned from the airport for this reason. So the best source of info is the consulates.
Their websites are pretty clear. they want the actual green card.

go to www.delta.com click on travel on the menu you will see international travel info .another window will open. enter your information.

do not enter alien resident of usa just enter india citizen. i checked for singapore you do not need a transit visa if leaving within 24 hours from the transit area. you might to check on hongkong.

transit visa not required for Hong Kong / Singapore

I checked with their embassies and I got their reply emails, that I don't need any visa.
Thanks mhb, for your kind help....
