Transit visa reqd. if u have temporary stamp?

I have had my passport stamped on Feb 19 at Atl. Not recieved the plastic card yet. (BCIS web site online case status still says FP recvd.)
I am planning to travel to India in a couple of days via Paris. Do I need a transit visa for Paris?
Can we walk in to Atl. French consulate if I need a transit visa? Any idea how long it takes to get the visa?
 
When I went last year to the French Consulate in Atlanta, I was able to walk in and get the Transit Visa within a couple of hours, but however, the rules have changed, they take between 48 hours to a week. I think you should call them and tell them your situation. They were very helpful and courteous when I went there.
 
If the French Consulate tells you that you dont need a Transit Visa with your Temporary Stamp, you should get it in writing. I had to miss my flight last year even though I had Advance parole with me since the IGNORANT Delta Agent did not know what that was. The French Consulate did tell me that I did not need a Transit Visa but the Delta Agent did not allow me to board, so I lost a day because of this. I would strongly suggest going to the French Consulate, speak with them and get it in writing that you do not need a Transit Visa with your Temporary I-551 stamp. Please post after you do this. I just got back from Pakistan through Dubai/Paris. I have a stamped Passport with no physical Green Card. Going through Paris is not an issue. There's no Transit Visa required. If you are going through Dubai to London Emirates Staff gives you hell if you don't have a Physical GC.
In your case you don't need to worry!!!
 
French embassy visit

I went to the French embassy @ atlanta today and they said I do not need a transit visa if I have the temporary stamp on the passport. They gave me a photocopied letter stating that if there is a valid temporary stamp, and I do not leave the airport, I do not need a transit visa.
 
spm, thanks for posting that info. in my case, i didnt have a choice, they had to give me a Transit Visa since Delta had put a note on my reservation record and I did not want to take another chance.

If you don't mind can you please give a copy of the letter you got. I went to consulate and I did not get any such letter from them.

My wife and daughter are travelling via paris, and I think having this would be a great help.
