Transit Visa Question - URGENT PLEASE HELP

I am planning to visit my home country in Nov. I have a visa from my previous employer valid through 2006 and an approval notice from my current employer. I learnt from the other thread that this does not pose any issue at the port of entry and a stamping is not necessary.

I had initially booked my ticket by NW (via amsterdam). My travel agent called me and said NW has cancelled their flight and he can put me in AirFrance that flies via Paris. In this situation, do I need a transit visa? The agent told me I do, but i am not sure if he knows what he's talking about. Since I have a valid US visa (though from a different employer), do u guys think i need a transit visa? I heard that airport authorities at Paris are pretty stringent.

Any help is really appreciated!

Thanks!!

To the best of my knowledge, that's not an issue. Since you have a valid visa (they are not bothered about which employer it is from)

call and check with France embassy in US. You can get the number on google.com call and ask them and also check their website

thanks s1311 for your reply.

at the french consultate website, it says one of the exceptions for a transit visa is:

"you also have a valid U.S. visa glued in your passport which will guarantee your re-admission in the U.S."

Ofcourse, I do have a visa till 2006. I guess I am good here, but I really want to know from someone if they dig into details at the Paris airport. Do they care if the employers are different or do they just look at the date till the visa is valid.

The consulate is not doing a good job replying to my emails or returning my calls.

Any help is really really appreciated.

They only look at the visa. They don't give a damm about your employer. Don't even talk about the new I797

As you said, even while returning to the US, you can come back with a valid visa and the current I797 (if you have one)

I have travelled in lufthansa through Germany with no issues, so did my parents with B2 visa.

thanks dude.. i really appreciate your effort and time..

i thought about not mentioning about my new I797 .. however i realized that when I board my flight here in the US, I have to submit my I94 from my new approval.. when I do that, wouldn't they come to know about my problem??

Or do you think that I should not submit the I94 and then when I return back to US, mail the I94 to INS? (I believe a lot of people forget to submit their I94 and it can be mailed to them afterwards).. i guess this is a reasonable risk to take?

I apologize for asking too many questions

I can understand your state of mind...........we all go thru that......

but, I don't understand "won't they come to know of your problem". there is no prob. u hv a valid visa to US. Period. no one will ask anything....

i am only ans. this confident, cos i hv done that myself. even my parents travelled on B1 with no transit visa.
