transit visa needed for London? Urgent!!!

I am leaving today from States to Turkey and need to transit in London. It just happened to me that I might need a transit visa to London even though I may only stay in the airport.

I have a I-485 and AP. Also I am holding a Chinese passport. Anybody knows if I need a transit visa to London? I do not want to be stuck in the London airport. Please help and respond ASAP.

If you are travelling on AP you might need a transit Visa. If you have a valid visa for reentry to US you dont need one. Best thing is to contact the closest British embassy or check up their website.

If you are staying in the same airport.relax..you dont need anything. If you have to go to another airport then it depends on the immigration official in London. If you show your ticket to Turkey and if you have not visited UK before on any other visa, and if you dont have any people there, you should be fine. They will give you a temporary permit to be in UK for 24 hrs. If you dont want to get out of the Airport, then you dont have to do anything.
 
If you have a valid(unexpired) H1-B visa stamp on your passport, you are good, you don't need a transit visa.
