transit visa needed for London? Urgent!!!

I am leaving today from States to Turkey and need to transit in London. It just happened to me that I might need a transit visa to London even though I may only stay in the airport.

I have a I-485 and AP. Also I am holding a Chinese passport. Anybody knows if I need a transit visa to London? I do not want to be stuck in the London airport. Please help and respond ASAP.

Check with Consulate / Embassy here. They are horibly notorious. It is a new thing in terms security check.

My travel agent told me that a transit visa is required in London only if your GC was issued before 1998. I don't know what the significance of 1998 is.
As stated in the earlier reply, its better to check with travel agent/consulate.
 
not sure abt China

For Indian it requires to have a visa for even transiting through London. That Includes cases that are not required to dis embark as in Air India.
