transferred to Atlanta

Hi y'all,

My ND/RD is 04/16/02. Did 2 FP (my wife did one FP, which expired about 4 days ago. She has not received a renewal notice yet. I did the 2nd FP about 1 month ago). The web message on the USCIS site did not change since the 04/16/02 for both of us, until yesterday when it said: <<your case has been transferred to Atlanta, which will schedule your interview...blabla...>>. I don't get it, this was a quite straighforward case, no address changes, no job changes, no unusual info...We were 1 month short of being (hopefully) approved (looking at their published dates). This is just a nasty way to lengthen the process...I am really pissed...Any info on the upcoming process will certainly help us...

I sent the attorney an email (he'll charge me 50-100 bucks just to answer that on Monday, I'm sure...it happened so many times in the past...):(((

Bitter   ,

Sucks to be you. But it could have been worse; you could have been transferred a year or two ago, like me.

The good news is that Atlanta is charging forward into early 2002 cases. Your file will take 3-6 weeks to physically move to ATL USCIS; after that if you're lucky the interview letter will come soon.

Interviews at ATL are pretty straightforward; check out the Atlanta transfer thread in the VSC I-485 forum; you'll need your EVL and tax return copies and that's about it.

actually, it is a good news for you

TSCgauss:

My wife's and my case's note dates are 4/4/2002 and the online message never changes even after we receive a letter for the interview in Atlanta.

We went there and we got our approvals right away.
Until today, the online message is still "it is taking 850 days to 900 days...".

Please allow me to congratulate you in advance because you and your wife will get your apporvals during the interview.

I had the same question like yours that why don't we get approved in TSC? Why we have to go to Atlanta? I don't know the answer. However, for sure, you will get your approvals on the date of intervew.
Also, please do not give any money to your attorney. Just tell him that you and your wife will go to the interview and mak sure you know where he will be on the day. If anything happens, the INS officer can call him.
You don't have to have him go with you. That will save you some money, maybe a lot.

In summay, here are what you have to do.
1. Prepare all the documents reqeusted by INS.
2. Know your attorney's whereabouts that day so the INS officer can call him if necessary.
3. Go to bed earlier the day before the big day.
4. Show up earlier on the interview day.
5. Get your passport stamped.
6. go home safely and celebrate.

Yes, it is that simple.
Best wishes.
CKL :)
