Transfering From School (Programs)

Hello, I need some information:

I am admitted to an MBA program (will start next August 2005). First I want to study one month of intensive english at the same school. I contacted International Admission Office at the University, and they told me I have to enter the U.S using English Program´s I-20 and once in the U.S I will transfer from English´s I-20 to MBA´s I-20.

The problem is that I applied using English´s I-20 (which is valid only until August 2005) so they gave me a F-1 visa only until next August 2005. The question is: At U.S port of entry would I be admitted until:D/S (Duration of Status) or only until my visa expires? Do I need a valid F-1 visa to remain legal in the U.S? Do I need a valid visa to apply for CPT and OPT after completing MBA?

Also my wife (who will be entering using an F-2 visa) wants to study English, so she needs to transfer to F-1 status, can she do it using an expired F-2 visa?

Thanks for your help.
