Hi:
I am applying for the Canadian immigration as skilled worker. One of the requirement is to show English proficiency. I have my GRE which I can show but my wife is not having any such proof. Can anyone help in giving an idea how to draft a letter showing that she is having the knowledge. Is there any particular format ?

Another requirement is to send university sealed transcripts. My bachelors is from India. How to send the university sealed transcripts from India. I have done Masters from NYIT and I can send only masters. Is this enough ?

Please advise.

You can type up a letter highlighting her education has been in english as the primary language but nothing gives more credibility than getting the IELTS done. I would strongly suggest you do that.

I got my transcripts from India and then mailed it from here, it doesn't have to be mailed from India directly. Again its your call and depends on the discretion of the officer.

I would suggest the following. Basically you must send something to prove your Bachelors degree. Here are some options

1) You must have sent transcripts to the US university for your admission. Please try to get hold of similar original transcripts.

2) If for some reason you cant get original transcripts request your department/admissions office of the University in US to make copies of what you submitted to them before you got admitted, notarise them as true copies and send to you.

3) I would be surprised if you have no marksheets or degree from your Undergraduate studies at all. Make a copy of what you can and send.

All depends on how seriously you take the Canadian Immigration and what you have at stake. Not sending correct info will delay the process. Depends on your propensity for risk. For a airtight case send original transcripts.

Only the principal applicant has to prove his/her English proficiency. So if you are the principal applicant then your wife does not have to provide anything for English proficiency.

Your GRE score will not be useful. I strongly reccomend that you appear in IELTS. This is the only sure shot way to get the max 16 points for English proficiency.

If you can get sealed transcripts from India it will be great but if you cant then get a photocopy of the transcripts and bachelors degree and get them notarized.

I had my Engg. degree transcripts send directly from university in India itself.

About the Language proficiency, i had just written a simple letter describing my education background, work expereince etc. for which English was the principal language. May be my 4-1/2 yr of US experience also made a difference. FYI, I didn't write any tests (TOEFL, GRE etc.)

But it is always safe than to be sorry. Hope it helps.

one of the other requirements in the application form is to get notarized employment contracts from past and present employers, for both self and spouse..and another requirement is to get original letters of reference from past and present employers too.
how many of you did the notarization or got around it? also did anyone get letters from past employers?
