1) When you please guilty and pay a traffic ticket fine in court, are you being convicted?

2) If yes, then does that apply to question 18 on the N-400 form?

Thanks for your help in advance.

If it was an ordinary traffic ticket for speeding and it did not involve DWI/DUI and if the fine was less than $500, just disclose it under the "ever detained, arrested, or cited" question and provide the details of the ticket.

No need to disclose traffic infractions for fine under $500 on N-400 as instructed, Check NO.
At the interview you can disclose it just to be honest. Its not gonna make a difference.
Now if you get a Traffic ticket after the interview but before the Oath then you have to mark yes on that one because on that one it does not have the stipulation of not disclosing under $500.

Actually, what the instructions say is that for a non-DUI ticket with a fine under $500 it is not necessary to provide documentation regarding its disposition.
The ticket itself must still be disclosed in answering question part 10, D16, "Have you ever been arrested, cited or detained ...."
For question D15 it is OK to answer "No".

I am still surprised why so many posters still interpret the "no documentation needed" clause to be equal to "no disclosure needed" :)

This is absolutely correct. Lot of people had/have this confusion (incl. me).....

I mentioned it and I got all the court dispositions just to be safe and going to face interview soon.

The question is "were you ever arrested/cited/detained", it has nothing to do with the resolution of the case or how you plead. The answer must be "Yes".

Thank you all. Really appreciate your help. Should I say yes to question 17 - Have you ever been charged with committing any crime or offense?

Also, should question 18 - Have you ever been convicted of a crime or offense? be marked as Yes or No
