Tourist Visa to OCI

My four year old relocated to India from the UK while her OCI was under process under a tourist visa. Two months after she landed, her OCI reached the UK High Commission in London. On a business trip to the UK I got her passport stamped with the OCI sticker and collected her OCI card. Does she need to leave the country and her re-enter with her passport stamped under her new OCI status? Many thanks

Hello Ginnu, thanks for the response. I called and spoke to someone in FRRO and was informed that my daughter is now in India illegally. Apparently the OCI is not valid without the entry stamp (on the visa in the passport). We have now been asked to "appear" before the FRRO. Any advice on what to expect? We had no idea we were breaking the rules. Please help, thanks.

if she came to India with Visa and now that visa is expired then she is illegal according to India immigration rules as She did not enter India with OCI and U visa. if I am in your situation I will go to Airport and will talk to Airport immigration department if they want to stamp her passport again. The officer or supervisor at Airport knows better than local FRRO officer . If you talked to local FRRO they may not be expert in your daughter situation and you must talk to Delhi. I dont agree with the FRRO officer you talked(Local FRRO may be asking for bribe). she has Valid OCI and valid U visa sticker in her UK passport. When one enter India with visitor visa or OCI then you get the same Entry stamp in passport and it is not different Stamp for OCI or Visitor visa holder. Many enter India on Visitor visa and then apply OCI from India and they dont go to FRRO or Airport to get new entry stamp
