Tourist Visa Duration of Stay

I have a questionabout my relative’s US tourist visa stauts.

- I asked my relative to come to help me due to my current health issues
- She is retired and is a citizen of a European country
- She was given a 10-year visa in early 2025 and we did not mention anything about my health
- Current stay: Entered August 2025, authorized until early February 2026 (6 moths)
- Question 1: If she exists to Switzerland (not her home country but more convenient for this trip), and she re-enters before her current stay (early February), is she guaranteed another 6 months or is it at the CBP’s discretion?
- Question 2: Is there a minimum duration required for her trip abroad, or can it be less than a week?

1. No, a visitor is never "guaranteed" to be admitted for 6 months. The officer can also admit them for a shorter duration or deny them entry.
2. Technically, no

1. At CBP’s discretion, always.
2. No technical minimum but the rule of thumb is that visitors should spend more time outside the country than in. If CBP suspects she is abusing a tourist visa they may deny her entry. If that happens, it may or may not be accompanied by her visa getting cancelled,
