Took away 1 AP in Bombay - Is that an issue?

The airlines took away 1 of the two Advance Parole copies in Bombay prior to boarding stating that they need it. Is this normal?

What would the implications be upon arrival @ US port of entry?

I have heard before that airlines sometimes ask for a copy of the AP which is why people always suggest that you keep a copy of AP to give to airlines. Anyways, as long as you have another copy for immigration at port of entry at USA, you should be OK. The immigration officer should return the other copy after verifying the details. Also, keep a few copies of AP in case somewhere else it is needed.

Actually the airline has NO business taking your AP. I am surprised they did it. You should always carry a photo copy of your AP with you to hand over to airlines and never give them the original.

Still no harm done. As long as you have one copy you are good to go.

Yes those idiots do take AP in bombay . As you know everybody mkes their own rules and these idiots dont understand one bit about anything.

I travelled thru Bombay on KLM/NW in Nov and they did not even ask my AP eventhough I did not a valid H1-B stamp. I just told them i have travel document and thats it.

Unfortunately they took 1 AP in Bombay and then the other one in LAX so now we don't have any left.

Its not a big issue since it was expiring in a couple of weeks anyways.

those dummies in transit airports

airlines are even more dumb than USCIS.

never give your original AP to anyone including port of entry.
they are supposed to STAMP AND RETURN IT. IT IS FOR MULTIPLE ENTRIES as long as it is valid.

sue the dumb ailrines for pain and suffering as you ahve to pay more money to get a new ap + hassle from USCIS

also inspectors at port of entry usually dont know the law and have never seen a AP and always make you go to secondary inmspection. this is just simply repression. they are so stupid its not funny.

bottom line: never give your ap, feel free to give copies to ailrlines, sometimes in transit the idiots at the security agency also dont know what it is and hasslde you more. if theuscis would do their job and process these per the promise of bush within 6 months all this hassle would go away.

i hope bush fires some of these guys :) :) :) :)
