My sister, a US citizen petitioned my parents...
Their priority date is/was June 5,2006.
I was informed that they are waiting for a call for an interview.

Anybody here who petitioned their parents from the Cebu Philippines at the same time frame?

Thank you.

This is what happened to my mom the last time she was here...may not be relevant but...

My mother had an unlimited multiple entry visa since 1980 & comes to visit frequently. A few years back she came to visit with a new passport in hand
but was denied entry in CA because INS officers wanted to see her old expired passport that she did not bring. Even though they checked her records in the system they still denied her entry stating that fake documents are very common. My mother is almost 70 yrs. old

So they sent her back on the next available flight back to the Philippines.

To top it off..they banned her for 5 years.

My father was here in 1980 too as a tourist but never came back since. My grandfather was given US citizenship as a war veteran but my father never applied for his citizenship...so the story goes.

Did the new passport have a valid visa in it? That's the first time I've ever heard of them asking for an old passport at the POE, unless the old passport is the one that has the valid visa in it.

Just spoke with my mom & according to her there was a visa on her new passport. All her papers were in order. They were looking for "supporting papers"for additional identification that she does not have. This never happened before since coming in & out of the US since 1980. It was in 2003. They did ask for her old passport.

Per my sister's friend, an ex-INS official to mail all documents they asked for; which she did to San Francisco & US embassy in Manila but never heard anything back since... except for this current petition they're waiting on.

She heard(don't know if it's accurate) that there were a number of people with legal papers never made it in...and that some INS employees were actually fired for that. She said after 9/11 things changed dramatically.

Thanks for the reply.

Parents finally received interview date April 13 in Manila.
Waited close to 2 1/2 years.
I just sent them $500 for their physical exam for both.

Can someone tell me what takes place after the interview or
how long will it take to get their GC after the interview?

Thank you.

they don't get GC at the interview. They get GCs after they enter the US with immigrant visas.

Thanks LucyMO.
So they are given the proper documentation to enter the US right after the interview...Is that accurate?
