To receive Packet 4 in USA?

Hi,

I am ready to send my Packet 3 to NVC. I was browsing through this board and realized that a number of CPers have opted to receive Packet 4 at their address in India.

I did not find any appropriate entry in Packet 3 which would enable me to have Packet 4 mailed to my Indian address as against to it being mailed to my US address.

What are the advantages of havind Packet 4 delivered to an Indian address as against it being delivered to US? How do I make this choise in Packet 3?

It is true that there is no place in DS 230 where you can enter
an alternate address for packet 4.

You can enter the address as the permanent address but that
would be slight mis-statement of facts.

So, the way most of the candidates do this ( including myself ) is
to send an email to the consulate informing the address where
you want your Packet 4 to be sent.

The reasons are:

1. It may take longer for the packet 4 to reach you in US.
2. They may send just the Interview letter to the US ( Though
that is the only important document in the packet ).
3. While you are waiting for it, your journey date may get
close.
4. The problem if you have to depart before it reaches US.
