To own a business on 485 pending.....

I-485 has not been approved yet(RD 12/2001). Just I and wife have EAD. My wife want to have a small business for additional income. Can she own a business without Greencard?

I posed this exact question to my immigration attorney a couple of years ago and received an unequivocal "yes".
