Suppose my 485 has been filed for 180 days and I have my EAD card, if I get laid off at this time, then in order to keep my 485 application alive, what's the maxim number of days that I can be in a status of jobless ? i.e. how long can I be allowed to be jobless before I locate my next job ? Is there such a grace period and how long is it ?

abc12321 ,

you should get job before or at the time of your I485 Approval . To avoid any problem in case of REF .

Thanks. But I would like to get more detail. Suppose I get laid off when my 485 has been filed for 6 months, then I wait for 4 month and found a new job, then in another 3 months my 485 is approved. Do you think it is OK (to be jobless for 4 months) ??

Sure, why not?

Only BCIS can answer your question. Let's live our life.

Be optimistic. Why not think like this?
1. No layoff till approval.
2. Laid off after 180 days but got the job offer very next day.
3. Laid off after 180 days and got the job offer in the course of time. And finally Approval without RFE
