Sending petition is worth an effort.

I don't mean to sound skeptical here...so don't take it offensive with the following:

Publishing the letter in the newspapers...my suggestion would be to get opinions from others. I am not sure of reactions from american public and politicians, so it is worth a discussion before we do this.

Getting appointment with the director? Again I am not sure how this can be achieved without having an organization. The director of BCIS is not going to meet a bunch of people just like that.

Anyway we have to iron these things out. I know it is frustrating...but we need to do something.

I live in MA. So I can consider if you need me to visit VT.

First thing whoever leaves near you and want to participate in this should go and visit congressman and senators. I bet if he see 20,30 people he will defintely give you an appointment and then explain him our problem and submit him our petition. We have nothing to loose expect time. It's worth trying.

Grouped should be formed state wise or if state is big enough then few city wise. Guys we need to meet and talk as a group wise to make someone to hear us.

We all have contribute at least little to this economy so please raise your voice and atleast discuss this topic with some timeframe we can not just keeping discussing we need to take some action also.

If we need to discuss then discuss with some timeframe in mind.

I like the idea of contacting senators and congressmen. If you want, I can lend my hand in sending the petition to Sen. John Kerry. If anybody wants to form a group for this task, please feel free to include me and drop a note in this thread.

In what state you are talking about. Create a new theard and name as "Contacting Congressman and Senators personally in <state name>"




Fix the date when you all want to go. lets take some action over here.
 
Good effort. Unless we meet these people in person (BCIS officials, congress men etc), nothing will work. All our Emails will be deleted and all our letters will be thrown into the trash bin. Please go ahead with your efforts. Even if atleast one congress man introduces a bill with our demands, that's enough for us. All the other congress men should be sympathetic towards our cause because our's is a genuine cause and we are asking for simplethings. I guess Massachussett members in this forum are active enough to form a state level group and meet their congress men. Iwish i could have taken active part in forming Virginia team, but i am currently looking for job and that ties me down badly.
PS : Don't lose your heart if you don't see much response to your initiatives here. Even if 2 people join you, go ahead and do it grandly.
