:cool:Hello Friends,
First of all let me apologize for not asking a immigration related question and I am really sorry about that. Well just have a quick question and hope you guys can help me out. Well me and my wife will be travelling to Mumbai, India soon and I have been trying to book airline and Hotel in India but I have run into a problems. Looks like I cannot book the above with a credit card issued by US banks since all the prices are shown in Rupees and we here use USD. I believe the American express we use in America is different then the American Express once issued by a Indian banks in India. I booked 2 tickets with SPICEJET airlines of India (from Mumbai to Bangalore and my AMX card was denied by the website but here is the funny part I called my AMX and they say the charge went through and it is up to SPICEJET to decide to accept or not.) Now when I called SPICEJET they have no idea or record of this transaction (I have no idea what is going on) So my questions is can you guys please guide me which airlines/hotels or even reliable websites accept US American Express credit cards? Thank you so much for your Opinion/Suggestions guys I really appreciate it. Thanks .
:D

Ps: As far as a the pending charge on my AMX card here in the US is concerned AMX has assured me that IF SPICEJET does not accept the transaction say in a week it will just drop of my credit card. Almost all Indian airlines on their web sites say they accept International credit cards even AMX So why are they denying the CC Charges am I missing something here. I am positive that Indians and Americans living in US do book airlines and hotels from here and I am sure they don't use credit cards issued from Indian Banks. Ironically last year when I was in New Delhi I used the same AMX card in India to pay my Hotel Bill and there were no issues. I just don't understand this. Please HELP got to book tickets and hotel fast.

i use credit cards for everything in india (american issued) , the only overhead is that there is a transaction foreign currency fee. i have noticed that amex and discover are not very common in india, may be thats the reason. i guess india is still highly dependent on visa and master cards.

I have personally booked tickets from US for Kingfisher flights (and flown on them) inside India using my US credit card and never had any problem. Your case may be specific to SpiceJet.
Try using a mastercard or visa if some companies have issues with AMEX.

It depends on the airline, I heard something similar about people declining foreign credit cards for domestic stuff. See if you can book through makemytrip or someone else. [ Disclosure - I have no relation to this company, but it is the only one I know and have used. ]

Still Looking for answers. Booking air Tickets in India from US.

Hello Sreeleshk,nkm-oct23,sanjoseaug20,rpranesh
First of all thank you so much for your response guys . I really appreciate it. Well next time I guess I will use my VISA Credit Card to book my tickets from US to book domestic flights in India I guess. For now I just told my best friend to book the tickets for me (of course I will have to pay him rupees in Mumbai). I still can't believe that it is this difficult to book a simple domestic ticket in India from here in the US. I am sure there is some other way to do this after all not everyone has a great friend you know what I mean. I am still looking into this problem though. I will also look in to the websites Make my trip as Sanjoseaug20 suggested may be it might be easier that way for next time. Anyway thanks guys.
