Cadel, you get the "class" from where? what source?

Wantmygcnow, when you look on your RTD,you see CLASS and they marked ASYLEE.That what they are asking for.Class of admission is just your status which will be marked on your Document.

cadel, I said the same thing long time ago but no one is sure. Its best a lawyer or somoene tell us rather us guessing.

There is visible difference between "class" (which is your status right now) and "class of admission" (which asks what was your "class" at the time of last admission).
Therefore it would not be right to mention your class as PR because that was NOT the class you were admitted when you last entered the US.

Wantmygcnow,Anytime I fill out my I-131,I put down Asylee as class of admission. And when entered the US I was supposed to have No class of admission since uscis required me to fill out I-602 for my GC.I can't say I was admitted in the US as asylee.I got in asylum status later on.But orginally,I was illegal and initially entered the country with no class. Now I'm a PR and the next time I fill out my I-131,I will mark PR as class of admission.

Ok talked to my lawyer. Here is what he said. Class of Admission is always Asylees for us folks. COA as immigration refers to indicates prior immigration status before LPR was achieved(if you have LPR).

When you were granted Asylum, you were "admitted" again and given a new I-94. That is your class of admission and DATE. The I-94 is a legal document that validates your Class as being asylee and date. Thats why they give you the I-94.

If you entered U.S on a visitors visa and were granted Asylum, Your class of Admission is Asylee with the date you got your I-94.

I hope this clears up things. In summary, a new I-94 always replaces the old one(if you got one before applying for asylum), so every asylee got a I-94 when they got approved, their class is Asylee.

Hope this helps.

you are wrong Mr. WANMTMY.....
here is my opinion....(and lawers are not always true not even immigration officers...)

when you get your status adjusted ..it will be writen technical as below...
"lawfully admitted as permanent resident on such date.."
otherwise just check the stamp we used to get on our passports.
or just check the document regarding backdated GC..

(f) Decision. The applicant shall be notified of the decision, and if the application is denied, of the reasons for denial. No appeal shall lie from the denial of an application by the director but such denial will be without prejudice to the alien's right to renew the application in proceedings under part 240 of this chapter. If the application is approved, the director shall record the alien's admission for lawful permanent residence as of the date one year before the date of the approval of the application, but not earlier than the date of the approval for asylum in the case of an applicant approved under paragraph (a)(2) of this section. (Amended effective 7/6/98; 63 FR 30105)

I'm with you Paramvi1.You're absolutely right and this what I sugested in this forum.

Paramvir, You may be right. But you should know that they have stopped stamping the passports. The only reason for stamping was because getting a GC in hand used to take 8-9 months so there had to be some way to prove your legal residency. That is not the same as Class of Admission..That is a change in your status but you were always were admitted as an Asylee when you got your I-94 upon asylum approval. If you entered as a Visitor, you wer admitted as a B1/B2 Visitor and if you got your asylum approved, your admittance changed to Asylee-Indefinite I-94.

So when you apply for U.S Citzenship and they ask you how/when where were you admitted into the United states...for people who attempted illegaly, will they write the DATE of their GC approval???..They would write the I-94 date when they were approved as asylees.
