TN visa to EB2 visa

I am Canadian working under TN status which will expire in 8 months.
My Company would like to sponsor me for the EB2 visa. Due to the time sensitivity, If I start the process now, is it possible to get my EB2 visa approved before my TN status expires? Or would it be more advantageous to renew my TN visa first and then start the process for the EB2 visa ?
Your advice is more than appreciated

You do not need to get the green card (there is no such thing as EB2 visa -- EB2 is a green card category) before your TN expires. There are timing issues, and these are clearly explained in the curiousgeorge post at the top of this forum. Please refer to this.
