TN Visa renewal

After hours of searching on the internet i am unable to find an answer.
2007 December i came to the US and successfully got a renewal and will be going through another renewal this December.

I am working with the same client for 2 years. The pay check comes from my consulting company and not the client. The TN however was issued by the client. A friend whose on a H1 informed me that this shouldn't be the case and that both the pay and letter should come from the same company.

I called the lawyer who asked me to take the letter of the client and he tells me this is ok and not to worry about anything but now i am confused and wondering if i should take the letter of the consulting company instead of the client for the third time.

I am just hoping i didn't F*** up big time on this.

Your friend on H1 is incorrect, and probably should stick to the profession for which he was hired.

h1's do need to be in the direct employer/employee relationship, but TNs do not. You are being sponsored by a US client, and that is sufficient (and clearly has been in the past).

Correct and thanks i checked and found out that the person you sponsor should be in US the only catch is that it cant be my own company in other word its not my company whose sponsoring me.

My other question is since both the consulting company and the client are in the US can i just get a letter from my consulting company since they are the one writing a check to me and i do work for this consulting company

Thanks

As long as it is not YOUR company, that is fine. This would allow the consultant to send you to ther clients without getting other TNs.

But why not carry on as before? Why the urge to change things?

Besides the fact the company is only willing to issue me a 1 year TN as they don't know if this goes beyond that.

1) like you said if i am going to another client i will require another TN. It doesn't seems like that will happen but it will in the near future which means i will be going for another TN
2) I just like to keep things simple. Work for the company that pays you.

Just to ask ya you don't think this will be considered wrong in anyways? Forgot the legal or illegal issue just talking about right or wrong
