TN Visa application, but trade is not on NAFTA list

The company I work for thinks (so much that they've already been paying for me to move) that I qualify for a TN Visa as I work "with" civil engineers and have extensive experience in my field. The project I'm heading too has complications they feel I can resolve for them. Any one with suggestions or knowledge on this type of application for TN Visa status?

I understand experience doesn't replace a degree, so I'm wondering what they may be thinking and how I'm to address this with CBP when I'll no doubt be questioned on it. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Unfortunately, no skilled trades are not listed in the Occupation List for TN status. Here is the list:

Don;t despair.
Your job is perfectly matched to Sci/Eng Technician category. Tech works under supervision of Engineer. TN application in essence asks that your supervisor "qualify" for TN.
