TN Visa Almost Expired, Please Help

Hi, my TN Visa expires in mid-October; I sent in my renewal at the beginning of August, but so far have not receive a notice of receipt. What should I do now? Is there anywhere I can check the processing, or do I have to leave U.S. then go through POE?

Please help.

Since you filed for your new TN when your current TN was still valid, the USCIS will grant you an implicit 240 day extension of your current TN unitl the new TN gets adjudicated.

NB:
You cannot leave the US when your current TN expires, (unless you plan to reapply for a new TN at the border) but you can continue to work for up to 240 days after you filed for the new TN, or until it is adjudicated, whichever comes first.
 
Thank you for your prompt reply. Do you know if I need a notice of receipt? I read somewhere that I need this to continue working.
 
Your employer will request to see the notice receipt from USCIS in order for the 240 day pending period to apply. The reason is that they need to update your I-9 form as it has now expired.
